Massachusetts Child Custody - Win Your Custody Battle

By Harel Peng

Winning your child custody is important to protect your child. If you live in Massachusetts, or another state, here are a few tips you can use:

1. Take Action Before Your Ex. If your ex takes you to the court first, then you will be at disadvantage. On the other hand, if you take your ex to the court, it shows the court that you really want your child to be in your life and want to take care of the child.

2. Pay your child support, even if there is no court order yet. You want to prove that you are taking care of your child and you want to do all you can for him or her. Be careful, not to give cash, but write a check or send a money order so that you have all the evidence in the court. Keep doing it every month and never skip.

3. Don't fight with your ex. There is no point doing that. Even though you don't want to talk to your ex, you still need communication and corporation for the sake of your child. By the end, regardless of who's going to get the physical custody right, you still need to work with your ex to take care of the child, arrange vacations, holidays, and make long-term decisions on where the child will go to school and the type of education the child need.

4. Track your activity every day, such as when you visit your child, or get rejected to see your child, the arrangement for your child's birthday party, any issues or disagreement. These are the important evidence in the court.

5. Don't miss your court date. Missing your court could put you in a awful position. Worse, it may result in a warrant for your arrest.

6. Get assistance from the experts. Your lawyer is definitely a great source. However, it's not enough. For one reason, lawyers are really expensive . Secondly they may not want to be too helpful since some bad lawyers want to extend the case to make more money out of you.
