Code Words Can Help Your Relationship Thrive Despite Deployment Separation

It was Leonardo Da Vinci who said, "Marriage is like placing your hand into a bag of snakes in the hope of pulling out an eel." His lack of optimism about marriage is shared - and voiced - by lots of. So substantially so that one could wonder, what's the point of marriage in this day and age? But just about every year, an estimated two million men and women throw caution to the wind, roll the dice, and tie the knot.

Despite those seemingly high numbers, a December, 2011 study by the Pew Investigation Center, based upon U.S. census data, confirms that marriages are in truth, on the decline. The study finds that right now 51% of all adults age 18 and older are married, compared with 72% in 1960.

This write-up takes an in-depth appear at the phenomenon named really like, its several nuances, and the institution to which almost half of all adults belong to named marriage. It critiques the history of marriage, and examines its objective in the context of today's modern world, and altering values. MARRIAGE: What's THE POINT? Throughout my freshman year of college I took a pilot course referred to as the Psychology of Male and Female Relationships. A single of the most heated debates we had stemmed from this question: does marriage still serve a purpose? My classmates, who ranged in age from eighteen to fifty, vocalized a wide array of opinions. Some expressed their belief that marriage is about family members, and other folks expressed a sentiment that has turn out to be really popular: marriage is archaic and has lost its relevance since the women's lib movement, which economically empowered ladies and lowered their economic dependency on men.

HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE ON MARRIAGE As soon as upon a time, marriages were instigated between families to preserve economic and social status. How the arranged couple felt about each other was of no concern.
